ATALANTA

Two centuries of woodturning to turn wood into art

The legacy and creativity of a family of artisans

Since the beginning of the 19th century, the artisans of the Neira family have specialized in turning local woods. This centuries-old legacy has been passed down from generation to generation until it reached Isabel and Ana Neira. From the selection of the wood and the elaboration of the sketches to the finishing touches and the packaging, these master artisans control all aspects of the production of their creations. The Atalanta workshop is a laboratory of ideas in which tradition merges with avant-garde design, and classic wood molding techniques coexist with the most innovative practices. The result? Pieces that are pure gold and silver work. All this with a commitment to local raw materials, attention to detail and the production of creations that stand the test of time.

OUR CREATIONS

The Nutcracker at Tate Modern

Can a contemporary art temple be conquered from a craft workshop? This nutcracker made of natural ash wood has achieved it. Tate Edit, the decoration and home store of the Tate Modern Gallery in London, selected it as a perfect example of how contemporary design can rethink everyday objects with hundreds of centuries of life behind them. When creativity, simplicity and functionality go hand in hand, magic happens.

Care instructions: a journey to eternity

Each tree is unique. The type of wood and its tonality, the configuration of the grain and the knots… These issues are key when it comes to sculpting the wood and caring for the products made from it. To help you ensure that Atalanta’s creations are with you for many years to come, we have put together a list of simple conservation tips. This way, you can ensure that our products maintain their original beauty and functionality.

Transferring companies' ideas to wood

Delving into other worlds and listening to the ideas of people and businesses brimming with talent allows us to go one step further and design new ways of transforming wood.

At Atalanta, we work together with companies from multiple sectors to design pieces that respond to their desires and needs.

After two centuries of shaping wood to make the most of its potential, we are aware that craftsmanship is the sum of many efforts and passions.

Sustainable craftsmanship for the kitchen of tomorrow

Gastronomy and craftsmanship are two arts that combine tradition and innovation, value local raw materials and assert the importance of roots in artisan creations. If we share the same values, why don’t we collaborate to build unique experiences for food lovers? At Atalanta, we are delighted to work side by side with chefs and restaurateurs to design wooden pieces that enhance the most surprising and tasty dishes.

Over the years, we have shaped the dreams of master chefs in wood and developed projects that are brimming with personality and passion. Would you like to know in which restaurants you can find products by Atalanta?
