Our Projects

We love challenges, we
can’t help it. That’s why we enjoy every custom project that our
clients commission us to do. And if they allow us to
collaborate with other artisans, even better. This is
where we unleash our creativity based on what the client asks of us.

For us, the concept
“this can’t be done” does not exist, but
we replace it with “let’s think about it a thousand times to
see how to do it.” From
the concept that we develop together
with the client to reality, we embark on
a creative process that has a chaotic side,
of trial and error, until the spark of
inspiration emerges that leads us to the final result.

FEIRACO

Feiraco is a cooperative of 2,500 Galician farmers
that is highly committed to the quality and traceability
of its products with a minimal carbon footprint.

They wanted to carry out a customer loyalty campaign at the beginning of 2021, raffling off a batch of products made by Galician artisans. They proposed that we make some plates with the typical spots on cowhide engraved on them. Something similar to this image.

1

First we selected the type of plate and the most suitable size for an illustration like the one they asked us for. We started with an 18 cm diameter plate, Aire model. Given that Feiraco’s philosophy is linked to totally natural and quality products.

2

While we were making this sample and organizing the rest of the set with other artisans, they felt the need for it to have a tray, and for that tray to also be stenciled with the cow spots and the Feiraco logo.

3

They also wanted the pieces to have the legend “Atalanta for Feiraco” on the back, which is why they remained like this.

4

In addition to the work of designing and making the pieces, it was also necessary to create packaging, so we first included a card with tips for preserving the plates that we placed as a separator between them.

5

We then wrapped each set of two plates with a paper-covered wire.

6

Each tray and plate set was wrapped in paper and packaged in a recycled cardboard box.
Once we had the client’s approval on all aspects of the work, the production of the parts began, which were delivered in February 2021.
Many thanks to Feiraco for trusting us and giving us the opportunity to work on this project and for highlighting the good work of our artisans.

D-RAÍZ

D-Raíz is a sustainable fashion accessories brand. It has a physical store and workshop in the city of A Coruña, as well as an online store.

Feli, who knew about our work through a mutual friend, suggested that we make some buckles for a bag. We had never before tried making accessories for clothing and/or accessories, but we thought it could be an interesting challenge to take on. She made us a drawing (almost a doodle) to take as a starting point..

1

At first we thought of making them out of 15mm thick birch marine board and replacing the typical buckle crossbar with a copper wire.

2

We didn’t like this model very much and Feli didn’t like it either, so we decided to change the design.

3

We opted for a larger, thicker design, all made of wood, which gave it more substance to be part of a bag.

BEKIMAYA

In March 2019, Alba Castro, a Galician resident at the time in the Basque Country, called us and was launching a sustainable parenting website Crianza sostenible | Kimaya (bekimaya.com). Alba, knowing that in Galicia there has always been a long tradition of making objects out of wood, had just asked her father if he knew someone who could make those little plates for her. Coincidentally, her father had just seen a report about us in La Voz de Galicia (Dibujar la madera en femenino (lavozdegalicia.es) and he wasted no time in telling her about it.

Alba wanted to make some wooden plates for children but needed something more: she was thinking that these plates would have illustrations of animals, but not of the typical giraffes, hippos… that children never see around them. Alba wanted these illustrations to be of animals in danger of extinction in the Iberian Peninsula such as the lynx or the Piornal hare. We proposed to draw them with laser on the raw wood itself. She also accepted the proposal.

1

First we suggested two types of plates that we thought were most suitable for children: a round plate with a diameter of 16 cm and a square plate that we were trying out at the time.

2

With the possibility of also carrying a small bowl fitted into the same plate for fruit or water, both made of birch wood with a food-safe finish.

3

Alba wanted her logo to appear on the plates (just like ours) and so we did. On the back of the plates we put the two logos engraved.

In September 2019 we delivered all the pieces and this is how they look in the Kimaya online store, which we invite you to visit: www.bekimaya.com/comer

Thank you Alba, for allowing us to participate in this beautiful project. It was a pleasure.

SARGADELOS

At Atalanta we are committed to revalorisation. We use local woods, almost forgotten for domestic use, such as birch. At the same time, we redesign everyday objects to give them a more contemporary presence.

This philosophy caught the attention of Sargadelos, who proposed to make a piece from their catalogue out of birch wood. This is how our collaboration began, turning the lids for their scented candles.

SuMaS Story of a collaboration

In the summer of 2020, in a casual conversation, from the Maruxío healthy cookie workshop We received a very interesting proposal: Maria suggested we make some sets with Christmas gifts in mind, using products from her workshop and ours.. From this proposal arose a series of gift sets that we put on the market in the autumn of that same year:
Given the tremendous reception they received, we are doing it again this year. We maintain the philosophy of collaboration, providing products. But this time our proposals revolve around something as traditional as wooden bread troughs, updating their design and diversifying their use.
We designed flour trough and shovel sets (Callobre and Caaveiro) in which the lid of the trough becomes a practical tray with leather handles: This pack has a vegan version (Callobre) and another for those with a sweet tooth (Caaveiro). Set Callobre

Outeiro and Lucenza sets

Tray with leather handles, wooden plate hand-stenciled in the Amorote workshop (Ames, A Coruña), red Vichy checkered tablecloth, biscuits and pastries.

Pintureiro and Bailadora sets

Tray with leather handles, plate and bowl made of birch wood with a natural finish, nutcracker, red Vichy checkered tablecloth, cookies. The vegan option is the Outeiro set and the delicious one is the Lucenza set.

Bailadora set

Conjunto Pintureiro

The proposals of this campaign end with bird nests (Pintureiro and Bailadora) with chocolate cookies and which can carry either two elderwood pencils or two hand-decorated birch tops.

The SuMaS collaboration means leaving aside globalized and industrial products and betting fully on local and artisanal products, highlighting important concepts such as sustainability, know-how and respect for both raw materials and the environment.

The result is a branded, prestigious product with intrinsic and unique value that tries to respond to a demand that is fed up with standardization and that appreciates and values differentiated products.

Through this collaboration, Atalanta and Maruxío highlight craftsmanship as the germ of a new business model that bets on things well done and from km 0. These sets are designed to be used as gifts, both for individuals and companies. They can be purchased through our websites:
